Anybody flock their own pigeons. Wondering how it is done.

I don't bother - I find the ordinary shells pigeon decoys work well.

I just wash the shell decoys off once a year at the start of the season, ensuring they are clean, and then touch up any of the white bars at the wings and neck with white paint. This really makes them stand out & attracts them.

When out decoying pigeons I have had a buzzard come in and dive at the pattern...taking one of the shell decoys and then quickly dropping it when it realises that it is plastic.

I always leave the shell decoys out and add shot birds to the pattern to make it more life-life and increase its size.

This has happened on three separate occasions and the buzzard always grabbed a shell decoy...not a real live freshly shot pigeon...figure that one out!!!

That is an excellent answer. Probably true that no difference can be seen when the sun is not shining. But when the sun is shining would there be some reflection.

I had a few flocked half shells , did not see any difference really.
What i did find good was making my own pegs , using a 5mm pop rivet inserted in a 25 cm bamboo peg and drilling a 6mm hole in the decoy. The decoys move even in the lightest breeze.

    Saw it on this video:
