Seems common that these start to burn oil after a few years.
Should i put another engine in?
Are they the same as a mazda 6 1.8, or a 1.8 mondeo?
Wife has one thats using a litre oil every 1200km.
But a guy at works is using a 5litre pack for 1200km.
Dont want wifes to get like that. He says at nct time he just adds emissions stuff in a can in engine and petrol tank to pass, or else the fail sheet has crazy level of emissions come up.
Whats the best option, as cant afford a newer 7 seater yet.

Keep driving until you can. Your car isn't burning that much oil and as long as you keep checking it and topping it up it should be fine. If it gets a lot worse you can consider your options but for now id leave it.

1L every 1200km is actually within manufacturers tolerances.

I'd recommend using a thicker oil (10W40 gastrol GTX for example) which your engine will run fine on and shouldn't burn as much as with a thinner oil.

You could fit an engine from a crashed car that could actually burn far more so fit now I'd do nothing but keep an eye on the oil level and change to a thicker oil.
