Hi folks, about 5 years ago I opened a tin of loose tea. It got lost in a clean up and I'm just after finding it. It says best before 2014, but I thought tea kept for years and years? It was in a well sealed tin in a box, so well away from sunlight. It's a lovely Fortnum & Mason blend so I'm loathe to throw it away :(

It won't do you any harm.
If it's nice drink it, if it's not throw it away.

Probably grand, as long as no moisture has gotten at it.

It goes stale as opposed to "off". As in, it will be perfectly safe to drink but it may well have lost a lot of its flavour and/or be slightly musty. Only one way to find out.
