Hi. Is there a definitive guide for installing insulation boards. Some guides online are saying to use adhesive - others say metal fixing. I am applying them to a plastered and painted block wall. Thanks.

Internal, partial cavity fill, external, fixed to timber/concrete???? You need to elaborate.

They aren't designed to be blobbed on. They are designed to fitted tight to the concrete wall using metal mushroom fixings.
Be very careful with any sockets on these walls. If the cable isn't long enough don't use a connector block and hide it behind the wall. Too many diy warrior's do this but it's a fire hazard

Hi. Thanks for the info. The wall that I'm hoping to do is an external cavity wall which has had bonded bead blown in a few years back. The bedroom is still cold though as it's at the end of the house and has 3 externally facing walls. I figure installing internal insulation can only help. I have A few questions:-

    1. Is it ok to add more internal insulation even though the cavity has already bead in it.

    2. Should the insulation boards have a foil backing or is that just for a different application.

    3. When I apply the insulation with the metals fixings do I need to seal the edges and joints with any sealant and if so what would that product be called. Also, Does this sealant need to be applied to the corners before I add the insulation boards?

    Thanks.

No bother adding insulation to filled cavity, far better job than the blown stuff.
Foil backed boards ? Dunno, I used 62mm board, 50 insulation+12 slab with no foil.
No u'll need to tape n fill joints n fill in mushrooms if you are not bothering to get a plasterer.
