Hi I am considering having eye surgery as a private patient. I don't have any healthcare insurance, so would be self-pay. Just looking into it at the moment. I am wondering if VAT is payable on a medical procedure as a private patient? Thanks in advance for any replies.

VAT is payable but you can rcoup some of the cost by using the MED 1 form at the end of the tax year
