    Evening all.
Just thought I'd star a C&C thread if anyone is interested?
I can go first with this shot of the Kino in Cork
I foolishly just upload on 500px now and I cant link directly to the image.
I can see a few things I'd like to fix but would be grateful on any feedback on any aspect.

    Cheers

When I look at the picture my eye is lead from bottom to top which I like but then I feel drawn to the most contrasted part of the image which is the area around the alarm (?) and not the sign which is more interesting. I like the colour palette as well

If someone could critique this image https://flic.kr/p/UTwfhZ I'd be grateful. It's one of my favourite pictures I've taken so I'd like someone to take me down a peg :P

The days of being able to bring a cup of tea into the cinema :) It was great!

Nice shot/angle but for me the cross processing is quite saturated. I like it in theory as it suits the subject but perhaps if it was a little lighter?

Thanks for the feedback all. Food for thought indeed!
@The_Gatsby Regarding your image. It feels quite unbalanced to me, my eye is initially drawn to the left, if the 3rd tree from the left was shorter than the second it might drawn the eye down a bit and into the image. I like the atmosphere in there but if it was a little darker and moodier it could work better!

Interested in thoughts on this shot from Lough Dan area recently. I suppose the main point of focus are the trees just below the rising sun and I like the little trail leading toward it. But would you crop out more foreground, is it a bit too much? Any other comments welcome.

I think the trail makes a nice leading line to the trees on the right but I find it hard to really look at them because of the sun behind. It is too distracting and kind of takes over.

Without the sun the trees would blend into obscurity, the light highlights them. Personally, I don't think the sun is distracting, it is a sunrise shot after all. Thanks for the input though gatsby, appreciated.

I'm inclined to agree with Gatsby on this. It's a lovely scene but the sun is just too bright and takes away from everything else that's going on.

It's by far the most contrasty part of the image so your eye is going to be drawn there no matter what. I look at the sun and then down to the trees. So maybe you are right about it highlighting the trees :P I just find the sun a little harsh

Interesting guys. I did a few bracketed shots of the scene so maybe i could blend in a less overexposed sun. Worth a shot.

Also, just noticed i shot at f5.6. Never go that open on a wide lsndscape shot. Usually f11. I probably should have shot one at f22 for the sun which would take the glare away a bit.

    Thanks for the cc :)

a bit too highlighty for me - details blown in the face.

Don't mind the burn on the guy with the flat cap, though some detail in the highlights would be better.

Think the construction hoardings on the opposite side of the street detract from the image and could be cropped. The sky at the top draws the eye out of the frame. Cropping that would loose the top of the streetlight, which is a shame. Maybe darkening the sky would be an option.

Thanks! So thinking more of a squareish crop?
I edited on my crappy laptop screen, once my new power supply for my monitor arrives Ill have another go at PP. Im pretty sure there might be some detail in the highlights to salvage.
I've found myself using the camera raw filter on most shots now. Super handy.

nice photo Rob. I would tone down the moon. it draws the eye up away from where the real action is

Thanks, I did think about that....I had just wanted to fram the moon in the shot, then the firework came into the shot unexpectedly, but I was glad it did!

Nice! I really like seeing the arc of the firework.
Agree about the moon. It might be my imagination but is the horizon level slightly off? I think a slight rotation to the right might sort it.
