Have unlock code & SIM. Now what?

This should be the easy part. I have a SIM card of a new network and finally received the code to unlock my handset...but now it's not asking for that unlock code. And I can still only make emergency calls with new SIM in.

Is there any way to force my Huawei G8 to display the prompt to enter an unlock code?

Any chance you guessed at the code wrongly multiple times before?

I don't think so. Pretty sure I just switched back to old SIM when asked the first time around.

When asked for the PIN for the SIM card, I can enter that and get into phone fine.

Try this (dont fiddle with other options as some hidden menus can be dangerous)
    1. At phone dial pad enter * # * # 2846579 # * # *
    2. select "projectMenu"
    3. select" Network Setting"
    4. select "Sim card lock state query"

    No projectMenu. Have the following:
    1) Background Settings
    2) Veneer Informations
    3) Network Information Query
    4) Software Upgrade
    5) Restore Factory
    6) Battery Charge

Went into 3 and have SIM Lock Info, which says "SIMLOCK_DEACTIVE"

Should be working so. Causes I can see:

    A) Faulty/inactive new sim
    B) Not compatible with new network bands (is it RIO-L01 or RIO-L02 ?)
    C) Blacklisted? Any way it got blacked?

    It's L01.

So, best to request a new SIM you reckon?

Yeah, even just borrow a sim from family/friends for two minutes to test.
