Air-tightening Chases

    Hi all,
I've the house chased and am wondering about sealing the chases. I read about a person on Boards before who mixed SBR Sealer with cement and painted d chases with it. Has anyone tried this method before and if so did they find it helpful?
I'd love to really get on top of sealing the chases properly, my plasterer said that SBR is brilliant to seal off but stopped short of saying whether it would work as an airtight product.
    Thanks in advance.

If you mix two part sand to one part cement with loads of water so it’s like a milkshake type consistency you can put it on with a big brush. Try a few different types. I used a indoor sweeping brush and I put it over the all chases. It’s worked very well and is an easy and cheap, but very messy, DIY job.

Alternatively you can purchase special airtight paint which you can paint over the chases but it's ridiculously expensive.

Thanks for that. I already went with the sbr and cement don't know how it'll go. I'll report back to this thread after my blower test is done.

The poster who painted the chases was hexosan...drop him a pm here and he'll put you right. I watched him paint on the stuff and it was like a liquid rubber going into them.

Thanks actually I pm'd him but no response unfortunately. Ya I found wen it dried it had that kinda rubbery texture to it which I presume is better than rigid for movement?
My plasterer had said about maybe putting mortar into d chases just b4 tubing but I thought that a bit messy and awkward.
You'd wonder if the chases had about 10mm of space each side of the tubing would it be better so d plasterer cud get more mortar in around the tubing?
