    Hi all,

We are planning a few days in Krakow this winter, from 29th Dec to 1st Jan. Just wondering if anyone has been there at that time of the year and if they could advise if the Christmas markets were still open and if shops/pubs etc are also open?

    Thanks/Dziekuje!

I was there from 6th Jan for a few days about 3 years so too late for the markets but I can only say I hope you enjoy it as much as we did, beautiful city and lots of snow too!

    Thanks for the feedback Ardennes1944.

I'm getting mixed reviews about the Xmas markets, some saying they close on the 24th, others on the 6th of Jan. Regardless, i've heard the city is beautiful alright so we will still enjoy it!

New Year's day will be a Bank Holiday but many shops will still be open.

Try visit Zakopane if you can, you won't be disappointed. And the cheese there is wonderful!!

Such a beautiful city in the winter - make sure you visit the Jewish quarter in the evenings - lots of underground jazz bars, warm beer !!! and cheap and good quality food - planning to go back there and spend a lot more time there - lots to see and do - freindly people - but very cold and expect lots of heavy snow.

There is a restaurant in the city centre called Cyrano de Bergerac that I would very strongly recommend.
