Fallon & Byrnesque Venues, Dublin

Looking to get married in Dublin (preferably city centre). It's going to be 50-60 guests max, with a possible few for the afters. Don't have a massive budget but also don't want or need a lot of the traditional things - looking for a more casual laid back affair.

Fallon & Byrne was the first place that came to mind (I haven't been to a wedding there but have heard great reports) but a bit worried 50 guests would look a little lost in their ballroom?

I've been trying to find somewhere else in Dublin that would be suitable and although I've found lots of cool restaurant places (The Woolen Mills stands out), they don't have any area for afters/dancing/music. The only other place I can think of is Odessa, but I believe after a certain time it's opened to the public.

Any places I am missing or recommended ... or would Fallon & Byrne look as sparse as I think with only 50 guests?

Personally I don't think 50 would look lost in fallon and Byrne. I would've chosen there if I'd had a smaller wedding, I was worried it would've been too small!

I know of someone who had their wedding in drury buildings. Great reports, similar style to your own idea.

Oh okay, great, thanks for that ... I guess it would all depend how the tables were laid out...

Drury Buildings eh? I vaguely remember the name when researching but think I wasn't seeing the wood for the trees at that point. Will have another look :)

50 would be OK in F&B I think.
Also check out 25 Fitzwilliam Sq (owned by Suesey St).
Lovely venue but it was too small for us. 80 max I think.

Don't know how pricey The Little Museum of Dublin would be, but it would definitely be unique. littlemuseum.ie/venue-hire/

Science Gallery have their hire rates on the website. dublin.sciencegallery.com/host-your-event/rate-sheet

Can't post direct links coz I'm a new user, sorry!

I got married in The Anglers Rest,Chapelizod. We had about 80 Guests but 50 wouldn't look to sparse. Had the ceremony there aswell. Food was great and not too expensive of a venue

Turns out Fallon & Byrne require 80+ guests if getting married on a Fri or Sat so that ruled that out.

We checked out Drury Buildings, very cool. I wouldn't imagine it would be to everyone's tastes but we want to keep it casual so right up our street

Drury buildings are suitable and Cleaver East in the Clarence is another option for you.

I was at a Civil Partnership in Fallon and Byrne on the top floor and it was one of the best nights ever.

Beautiful venue and the food was amazing.

There was roughly around the same numbers as you.

    I'd highly recommend it.

We got married in Drury Buildings last year and were really happy with it. We had 60 for ceremony / meal, and another 20 or so in the evening. They were really easy to deal with, and it was a very relaxed atmosphere as you said. We didn't want anything too formal and wanted it to be more like a big party. We still get told all the time that the food was the best anyone has had at a wedding (including the evening food!), and everyone had a choice of 4/5 mains on the day. The only thing I would say is that if you have anyone immobile the stairs could be difficult for them, as there is no lift.

We had looked at Fallon & Byrne too, but were put off by the minimum numbers as we wanted something relatively small. We also looked at The Schoolhouse Hotel by the canal, which seemed a little more traditional, but seemed like they would be nice to deal with and would work with smaller numbers. But, like Odessa I think the party area was open to guests after a certain time which put me off. Could be worth checking if that has changed though.

I'm so glad to hear that about Drury Buildings as we've booked it for next year. We really liked the "informal" feel of it & the menu looks amazing. Our only reservation is the price of drink but it is inner city dublin so can't be too surprised. Trying now to think how to decorate the room etc :-)

Oh you'll have a great day! For decorations we mostly had lots of fairy lights (borrowed from friends). But it's such a great space, you could decorate it in loads of different ways. Our photographer recently put up some photos of our wedding on her blog. I can post you the link if you think it might be helpful to give you an idea of the space etc :)
