Lads - am very new to grass management. Have a 4 acre field that was topped a few weeks ago but is struggling to regrow.

Without getting too scientific about it, I want to spread some 10-10-20 on it. The co-op does these large bags (500kg I think) and I have someone to spread it. How many bags would I need and roughly what cost?

    Thanks!

Should have spread a bag of can when topped to maximize growth in the last couple of weeks, co op does all Fert in small bags.

One large bag would be a good application for 4 acres (125kg/acre), don't know what it costs though as I use 18.6.12 or CAN myself

    I'd go for 2 bags of 18 6 12
One now and another right before the spreading window closes

18 units of nitrogen won't grow much grass at this time of the year,

    Growing lots isn't what's wanted...growing enough is.

I'd be with u ganmo I even spread 10-10-20 today too much nitrogen at this time off year and the grass won't be good feeding for sheep IMO.

It's better to have grass, than not have enough and shortly it will stop growing till next march. Now is the time to build up a bank of grass for later grazing.
