I'd dry them off--then mart them, prob get as good a price..as feeding them on.. what weight they/breed??

I'd have pulled them out and been giving them a handful of meal for the last 6 weeks with the calves on them that way they'd be working and gaining simultaneously for you. Now I'd still throw them meal for a month or so to have a bit of bloom on them for sales. A hungry looking cow in the mart will get a very middling touch

One charlois, fine big cow nice cover on her at minute, the other a shorthorn, not much on her only 7 years but not in calf so have heifers calving soon going keep an extra one instead of selling

I'd try mart with them-after take weanlings off them--dislike price, take them home! wonder would mealing them--pay for itself

That's one option but nothing puts me over the edge more than wasting time messing around. I think you're better deciding to do something and then stick with it. We've tried both options before and hanging on a while and getting a bit of cover on the cows and weight too has been the better choice for us. If I take anything to the mart the idea is to sell unless I'm not getting fair play at all.

id mart them with the weanlings. culls aren't a bad trade at the moment and a month or six weeks is when there will be a lot more out and not just as much competition.

That's not a bad suggestion if the calves are good and preferably bulls they'll sell them for you. Pulling them out of the batch and mealing them would be my preference but that ship has sailed now I guess. You still have a fair bit of time that market isn't going to flood
