I need to upgrade my car which will be 10 years old next year so looking at a Nissan Xtrail because of Nissan's scrappage scheme. I don't want to upgrade until 181 however.

I'm wondering when 181 prices will become available and a dealer will speak to me about upgrading?

The scrappage deals are never a given, also changes to how cars are emissions tested could see the RRP increase between now and January.

Nobody here has a crystal ball but generally November/December is the time they focus on new year 181 sales. At the moment they are still trying to save 172 sales.

Also a few things to factor in is that a facelifted Qashqai is just gone on sale with a facelifted X-Trail to follow in the next month or two so they might not need to offer the same level of incentives for 181. Also October's budget will most likely not be favorable towards diesel cars so there could be changes in VRT and motor tax rates which would be reflected in retail prices so I'd say dealers will be coy on pricing anything before things are clearer after the budget.

Will a new Xtrail model be out then for 181?

As said, it's not a new model, it's just a facelift/refresh of the current model with minor changes.

Isn't there a new engine coming?

I spoke to a local dealer. He said to call him in November. He said its a new model and that scrappage will not be a problem.

I don't think the new 2.0 diesel has been confirmed for Ireland yet.

But it's a mid life facelift rather than a new model.

    This is it:
