Can a layperson apply for a section 47 report or does a solicitor have to do it.
If a layperson can do it where can the application form be found and where is it sent to ??

"Section 47 report" usually refers to a report under Family Law Act 1995 s. 47 from a social worker or similar in relation to the welfare of a party to family law proceedings, or to someone related to a party (e.g. a child of a party).

OP, a s. 47 report is ordered by the court, so the way to get one is to apply to court. They always arise in the context of family law proceedings. If you're a party in the proceedings and you're legally represented, your lawyer can apply for a s. 47 report on your behalf. If you're a party in the proceedings and you're representing yourself, then you can apply. If you're not a party in the proceedings, you can't apply at all.

Thanks Peregrinus. If someone is representing themselves where can they get the documentation for the application ?

Court officials generally try to be helpful to self-represented litigants. I'd start there.

May also be worth approaching FLAC to see if there's any help from that quarter.
