    Hi all,
I'm currently in training for the dublin marathon and could really do with a new pair of runners.
I've been running for about 7/8 years and normally go with using a combination of Asics tambora for trails and cumulus for road.
I recently tried out the hoka clifton 3's for a 50k and as good as all the reviews are, they just don't suit me and I end up with a swollen ankle/achilles after anything over 5km..
So what do you guys recommend? What's your 'go-to' pair for distance?

Personally I like Brooks GTS and have been wearing them for at least 4 years. Plenty of cushion for distance running but pricey if you're buying latest version.
Sometimes they have a deal on Sports Direct for last years model.

Have a read of this thread, the runners give some insight into the different shoes around: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1412

Go get yourself fitted from a reputable running shop(not Elverys) for the correct pair of runners. If you plan on running DCM runners are a piece of kit you want to be sure is correct.

Only started running 2 yrs ago and wore New Balance. they were perfect for 2 pairs. ran 5km/10km/10miles races in them no problems. But now the 3rd pair of apparently the exact same shoe but "new improved" is different. I can't seem to break them in at all. wore them alot over the last 4 weeks for walking on paths and trails and all was ok but I got blisters on foot yesterday on a 5km run. anyone with suggestion of what is similiar to the old NB 1080BG or where I could get them still in stock (munster area)

Would recommend runzone in Rathgar, good selection and knowledgable staff. Bought some Nimbus there a few weeks back.
