Ford ranger or l200

Considering one of the above. Have a budget of upto 7k. Should get a relatively clean machine.
Ford ranger is the first preference, have they improved the steering lock in the newer l200?
Know of a few rangers locally and they're exceptionally reliable.
Any issues with either I should be aware of?
Will I have any hassle taxing it as a commercial in Galway for farm purposes?
    Thanks, excuse all the questions.

Drove an L200 in work a few years ago, had horrific seats (I was driving most of the day and went home with a back ache after it), never drove the Ranger but drove a couple of Hilux's and they were very good machines.
The L200 had issues with suspension and steering (wheel locked up out of nowhere and nearly got me killed) so over all I'd stay away from the Mitsubishi myself.

    Glazers Out!

Isuzu dmax could be worth considering too.

Forgot the dmax. Another bullet proof machine.

I work with a fella who has a 07 ranger and it gave him an awful time

    All the driveshafts went
The 2 front windows won't work
    Clutch and flywheel
    Diff went
    All new brake lines
    Turbo went

Could be more too . He does a lot of driving now in fairness but it turned me off them anyway . Suppose ya could hear the same about a couple l200s

That's alot of gear to go. What sort of a time frame did all that happen?
Is there a dmf on the ranger? I'd prefer an automatic anyway but they're not too common. Have had hardship with two 3.2 pajeros, one dmf failure costing 2k and the other fuel pump failure costing another 2k.
Just want a reliable workhorse that's got acceptable comfort.

I would say over approx 2 years .
He had some issue with tires as well it kept wearing the insides very fast and he got it tracked and alligned a few times but it failed the doe over it

I was going to buy a jeep myself for around 7/8k buy i think they are a risk at that money I bought a 3 seater berlingo van and after 40k all i did was 2 services and tires

Yeah I've got stung twice myself. Doesn't seem to be any service history with anything a few years old in this country either. Not even diy records. I do all my own servicing by the book.

This looks well and it's a good spec. Auto too.

Couldn't comment on the dealer I've never heard of them but they've plenty of commercial stock.

Thanks, nice clean machine. I'd like to try get a lower mileage one even though the one you posted is probably realistic for the year.

The ranger is a good reliable solid jeep and is mazda based with a mazda engine.

The l200 is soft enough I think.

Are the auto box dmax generally reliable and serviceable?
