I was wondering if anyone has any ideas - I am thinking about taking the other half away for anniversary in two weekends time. I fancied going somehwere nice but was wondering if there is anywhere you could get a good deal for 1 or 2 nights (depending on price)
Open to ideas but had thought about heading to West Coast?
Any good sites etc. would be nice to know about
    Cheers.

Not sure where you will be travelling from but I am going to assume Dublin... I have been making it my business to do weekends away around Ireland for the past few years. I'm just back from a trip to Killarney and with the national park there, there is a lot to see and do and beautiful restaurants too. West Cork is a very far drive but then again so is Killarney. Kerry is a tourist haven for a reason. If you are into doing things and not sitting in hotel room/hotel for majority of time I would say go for a bnb. They are of very high standard in Kerry. I stayed in one that cost me 50 a night and it was great, excellent location and breakfast included. If you are still thinking West Cork I have heard its beautiful but if its just for a weekend its a long journey.

I would also recommend Galway radison blu 100 a night and good location and Galway has lovely shops and restaurants.

Also Im from west coast so I would go to one of three locations:

Westport - has a good reputation for a reason and close to all Mayo sights

Sligo - under-rated for its scenary and beaches

Achill island - beautiful beaches and scenery but a very long drive. Stop off in Mulranny en route

I have to second this; I went to Westport 2 years ago and it was one of the best weekends I ever had.
We hired bikes and cycled the Greenway, one of my favourite days ever.

Connemara - head to Dogs Bay or Tra an Doilin.
    Dingle.
    Aran Islands.
North Donegal - Ramelton, Downings etc.
