Just wondering if anyone has had a Humanist Wedding ceremony and what rituals did you have throughout the ceremony.

Yes we did. We did 'warming' of the rings and then a sand ceremony at the end

We did a Sand Ceremony. I'm terrified of candles so suited us perfectly and our kids were part of it too so was lovely.

We had unity candles and a memory candle at the start. We had the hand fasting but without the ribbon as it was forgotten in the car but I actually preferred us holding hands doing it. I doubt they had satin ribbon years ago!

We had readings- 6 in total divided between both families. I found lots of good readings on Pinterest. One I loved was called the Marriage Box.

    We had the following:

Unity Candle - both our mothers lit smaller candles at the start to symbolise our two families and myself and my wife took the flame from these candles to the main one at the end.

Tying the knot - we done this because I wanted to use my father's tie as a way of bringing him into the ceremony, he has unfortunately passed away. This felt very special, emotional and meaningful and I believe my mother really appreciated and felt this was a touching way to honour my father in the ceremony.

Sand Ceremony - we done this because creativity is important to us both and we found it a nice way to bring this into the ceremony.

We also had one reading, Chapter One of One Thousand by OJ Preston and we also had one song which was sung in Irish as Irish is a big part of my wifes life.

I'm just planning on a handfastening ceremony and a some vows with our rings! (And an intro and outro) we'll mainly focus on some nice music, it'll be all over in 20 minutes :)

Aw I love what you did in memory of your father. I wish I had thought of doing something like that for my mother but we had a lovely reading and candle.

We also had Chapter One of One Thousand at the end. I love that reading too.
