    Phateon v10 5.0 TDI (w12 is a petrol... facepalm...) or a Q7 6.0 V12 TDI :D

I have an A5 black edition, 245hp. Great fun to drive. Especially when you 'need' to accelerate fast. But in all seriousness it depends on your budget what cars people can suggest. Is the phaeton referred above! As long as it's the Phaeton W12 LWB version also of course!!

    Any Volvo with the D5

From memory the Mazda diesel is available as a 170+0bhp

    The Jaguar 2ltr Diesel.

If you want to go bigger there are a variety of V6 and V8 that woudl exceed 170 bhp

The A5 is one of the few cars that would tempt me to buy a diesel.

Find something fitted with 313ps 3.0 biturbo VAG v6 tdi. A6, Avant, Touareg. Or the 4.2TDI in the A8, Q7, Touareg etc.

They really are great fun. Officially it does 0-100 in 5.9, I don't know about that but it's damn fast off the line. I was looking for ages and then one morning a black edition 3l 245hp Quattro with B&O sound popped up within budget and less than 3 years old...I bought it an hour later... When you know... You know...

You aren't mentioning a budget so.
Alfa giulia can be got with 200bhp
    Passat biturbo
These days the list is quite big for those sort of power bands.

For the price, its hard to beat a 320d for performance, handling and economy.

Looking at the latest figures a 320d will give you about 190bhp and 0-100 of 7.2s.

    An 2.0TDI a4 has 182bhp and 0-100 of 7.7s.

The older models (pre 2016) used to have a larger performance gap from what I recall.

In comparison, the Octavia rs is 181bhp and does 0-100 in 8.1s which is a bit off the pace.

I’m hoping this isn’t the same gimp who keeps trolling motors but I reckon it is.
