Camping wild in Gougane Barra

    Hi everyone

    I was in Gougane Barra countless times and on couple of occasions I noticed people camping there in a tent, usually in the forest just behind the car park.

    Does anyone have any experience with that? I have some wild camping experience (from distant past) and know how to behave etc. but is it legal and would it be safe for a family?

    I thought this would be a great experience for kids and the plan is to only stay for one day midweek and leave the next morning. Any advice highly appreciated.

    You can apply to Coillte for permission to camp in the forest park, if you want to camp legally.
