I'm new to photography and I am really enjoying it. I have a Nikon D3300 with a 18 - 55mm lens and a 70 - 300mm lens. I see lens hoods and filters but I'm not sure are they a necessity and if so do I need one per lens or are they interchangeable. Any help or tips are appreciated.

Hoods are sized to the lense and prevent glare on the lense.

A decent filter is worth getting. Apart from the functionality it will protect your lense from being scratched.

Do filters make a major difference to picture quality?

Is there anywhere you would recommend to get the filters and hoods?

They serve different functions. UV block UV light. Polarising deal with glare.
I usually shop online. Amazon among others. Don't get budget brands. Quality is important.
