this is something that has happened in my own family and others i know, where money will come between people and cause more hassle than its surely worth. he didnt pay her back, will disputes, whatever it may be.

have you any experience of this in your own life? is it really worth it?

Only if it's money in the form of land. Then it's definitely worth it because land.

Yup, I basically have no extended family on either side because of it. Hopefully it'll be a long time before an inheritance is to come my way, and not sure how it will go between my siblings. I've made clear to my parents I'd like to them spend what they have on themselves and to be honest I've no intention of taking anything from them. No one can fall out with you if you've received nothing.

You can't change family, but you can change the amount of money in your bank account.

I've had numerous situations i was let down by my best friends that i knew for 10+ years just because of money, also had a fallout in familly again, because of money. Now when you look back it looks stupid, the sums are not that big, but i always try to avoid the money lending or any other situations like these now, probably being over-protective because of the past

you dont lend land to someone unlike money, you can rent the land to them for money but the f&&ckers might not pay up, but then you just kick them out

Sometimes I lend people money hoping they don't pay it back - much better than having to deal with them, usually the high maintenance type.

The problem that nowadays you'd end up looking for your money, rather then them giving it back on time... should be complete oposite

Try a very close family member who accused you of theft because their bank card fell out of their wallet and presumed I took it and never left it back properly. No money needed but they refused to apologise and see their nasty behaviour. Horrible nasty person.

Loaned 600 to my brother in 2009 when he was made redundant. He had to wait 3 weeks for his dole. Never saw a penny back.

In 2012, he told me the balance of 3k for his wedding reception bill was unpaid. He was planning to raid our mothers savings book, the one in his name, which she saved into since he was born. Foolah here gave him a bank draft for the balance. 3 years later he ended up throwing a cheque at my feet. Haven't spoken since.

I've had situations with my own family where I gave loans of significant sums to get them out of a hole. I always made it clear that it was a loan and also the date that I needed it returned. I always got the money back but had to ask on numerous occasions. Always felt like they thought well he has plenty anyway.....I don't by the way. If asked now....I just say no, I don't have any spare cash. Less hassle and you're rarely (never) thanked anyway.

Happy days. That person is now out of your life for good.
