Always liked this guy. Never been a fan of the Coen brothers but this actor made Barton Fink amazing
Just watched Red State (never heard of it before) Goodman is fabulous
    very under rated actor imo

    He was great in Argo.

Brilliant in Argo. And more recently in 10 Cloverfield Lane. He's a brilliant actor and seems like he's good craic too.

I don't think he is underrated though. He has always been given great parts in recognition of his talent. He has worked with alot of the best directors over the years.

Possibly underrated in the sense that his film roles have never been recognised by any significant awards? Never been nominated for an Academy Award as far as I can recall. His performance in 10 Cloverfield Lane was definitely Oscar worthy.

That performance was stellar, and arguably got a little lost at the end of the years' various awards and gongs. Third act controversy aside, the film soared on the back of Goodmans character.

He's one of those actors who isn't necessarily a chameleon like his peers, but he's so charismatic and possesses such gravitas, he often commands most scenes by sheer force of will. If you haven't gathered, I'm a big fan; )

I guess it's because he is so absolutely prolific. His TV work alongside his animation roles probably out number his numerous film roles.

I loved him in oh brother and the big Leb.

I think he's underrated by the general public. Rarely given a lead role. A bit like Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the early part of his career.

At this stage I can't see him moving on from supporting roles, but he's a fantastic actor. I am a huge Cohen brothers fan, they really should make a film around him at this stage.

Another fan here. Thought he was great in Sea of Love and in his small role in Flight.

Like most, I loved his role in the Big Lebowski, however I thought he was absolutely superb in Tremé. The way he portrayed Creighton Burnette was amazing and his was the stand out performance of the entire series.

John Goodman reminds me a lot of Robin Williams - not with frantic energy, but being able to be fantastically funny and goofy, but then put in a stellar turn as a really eerie and messed up in 10 Cloverfield Lane. Williams was the only other actor I can think of that could pull that off just as well.

The scene in the car park in The Big Lebowski will live with me forever :D
