    Hi,

Looking to purchase a Mercedes CLS (250 CDI) ~ 2013-2014.
Any thoughts or opinions on these? They look to be decent value (already taken the significant depreciation hit etc..) while still being young enough to be reliable..

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi mike

I too plan on buying a cls next year. Ive been searching online for info with little success theres doesnt appear to much info out there. I plan to import a two year old car from the uk with one year manufacturer warranty remaining.

You mention the cls 250 2013-2014 would you not consider a late 2014 220d or early 2015.... only reason i mention this is because this is the facelift model.... different front grill, alloys, entertainment console etc. It would be slightly lower emissions cheaper vrt if u plan to import and cheaper road tax.

You probably know this but theres a new model cls expected next year... rumours online are also expecting a model name change to cle to align it with the eclass its based on.

In recent months its been mentioned mercedes cars are also involved in the emissions scandal like vw... so hopefully no nightmare stories of issues after the fixes have been applied like vw. Getting a car without any emission fixes would be my choice.

I wouldn't be taking the cheap tax into consideration until we see how the budget goes as current rates will almost certainly increase.

True wouldn't be a big factor in fairness if you are buying a 40k car a few hundred for road tax wouldnt change my mind.

To be fair the road tax on this car is already very cheap.

but I think you should take the fact its the facelift model into consideration.

I love the look of the Shooting brake -but 2 years ago when I was looking I could only afford the pre-facelift model and when I sat in it it felt a little old fashioned

The earlier 250 would have the advantage off not having adbluue, where the later 2015 220's do use adblue, the tank for this is placed where the spare wheel used to be. These are less powerfull then the 250 also.

    You're right, I didn't think of that!

220 is only 170bhp while the 250 is 200bhp afaik, in a car that size and weight that lack of 30bhp would be noticeable. 350 would be the obvious choice but they rare and command a hefty premium. Maybe look to the UK OP?
