Feeding the same. At this time of year I wouldn't change it anyway, energy in grass will be starting to drop.

Can I ask what ye are feeding?

We're feeding a beef but @ 1kg/hd but was told during the week that beef nut for young calves is wrong.

Have just finished my first pallet after first ever cocci outbreak .
Dosed worst affected calves and put all on the nut.
Calves are on 1kg in general and the smallest /worst affected are on 1.5 kg.

Do you use the meal as a supplement to a treatment regime mooo

This year I'm using it on its own, have been feeding it since turnout. I asked vet in may is there a need to dose for it if getting decox in meal but he said there shouldn't be. They havent got it yet anyway. It hits calves hard if they get it, esp if the calf had a bad scour when younger. Sulpha powders help we found anyway, and if they are bad taking them off grass all together

Went with sulpha powders on worst of calves also .
The mild winter seemingly ensured alot higher oocyst numbers this year.
I'd be happier to go with nut alone and ensure a build up of resistance quicker.
The dose is always there in reserve.

What are all of ye dosing calves for on grass at the minute. Worms etc?

Not feeding calves here....is it really necessary? Do guys not feeding calves have the above complications? Just asking?

I hate crows, dirty troughs, mucked up areas dirtying the grass.....is it all a recipe for disease?

All calves here on 1kg calf nut, grass is plentiful so will soon cut out the nut. Calves dosed regularly for worms used oral drench earlier in year but changed to a levacide pour on last time as per vet

Hang a heap of CDs in the creep feeder. I done it this year and it actually works with the crows.

Haven't dosed calves yet this year.
But then calves went out later than normal this year than they should have.
No coughing and thrive is good since they went out. Dry conditions and cutting land for silage are big help in knocking back worm burden.

I go with vecoxan. Give them two doeses, one at two weeks and second a month later.

Found coccidiosis a bigger problem this year than before, usually give one dose of vecoxan but started using bovicox & give the odd one 2 doses

Yes. We got it this year. Lucky we didn't lose any. Got vet norodine and sulpha powders and alot of tlc. Put them back in and in milk. They got bovicox a few months ago so should have been covered. Did them again with the bovicox. Also gave them life aid during the day to boost them a bit
