Anyone think PP are taking the proverbial mick with their extra place offer but only offering 1/5 odds. Surely they should be offering 1/4 odds if they would be the normal terms for the race.

With 16 plus runner handicaps at Galway the normal terms would be 1/4 odds. With the extra place PP offer they dilute the terms to 1/5 odds.

For ease of calculation let's say the first 5 home wrere all 20/1.

    Normal terms (1/4 odds):
    Winner pays €135
3 placed winners pay €30 each
Total paid out: €225 (including stake)

PP special offer terms (1/5 odds):
    Winner pays €130
3 placed winners pay €25 each
Total paid out: €230 (including stake)

So in actual fact the extra place offer they're throwing at you as soon as you walk in the door is costing them next to nothing.

That's basically in simple terms "Business" switch bookies... Usually if a horse is 33/1 with say bet365 4 places quarter odds paddy is 28/1 5 places fifth the odds... Sky does it a lot too... Isnt bet365 always 1/4 odds...

Bet 365 are always 1/4 odds when offering an extra place. Powers are a disgrace. Offering 1/5 the odds on 16 runner + handicaps. They have taken over from Boylesports as the worst bookie of the lot and that takes some doing.
From their annoying ad campaigns to their nasty targeting of problem gamblers like that lad that worked on the post office in Wexford. They basically stole state money and they knew where he was getting it aswell.

You are spot on, the have definitely taken over from boylesports as the worst bookie. Boyles do money back as free bet if second to the fav on a full meeting, Paddy's do it on one race per day.
They have a lot of specials on the screen for virtual racing though,
    They are a joke

In fairness to Paddy, they honoured 4 places in yesterday's Oak Tree at Goodwood even though the field was reduced to 10, with 7 N/Rs. Must have been a loser for them.

Ladbrokes money back if second to fav in all races at Goodwood and Galway was the best offer of the week.

PP have been doing free bet (if 2nd, 3rd or 4th to the SP Favourite) on two races every day this month.
And around 5-6 extra places every day this week. 6pl in the 3.35. There was also an ExPl in the Golf recently, all be it at 1/5.
They're one of the few, that allow both Faller-Ins' or W/O, sometimes without affecting places in e/w Accas.

The only downside is they seem to have abandoned the free prediction competition over the last while.

Pick7 on Sky still have theirs running most days, but is slightly harder to win.

Boyles take fair beating now for tag of worst bookies. One week, few GAA bets, account restricted.

I'd much rather bookies actually took a bet rather than offered gimmick offers to mugs
