    Hi all,

So about 2 months ago I left a job with none to go to due to a variety of issues with my direct boss. I left on stress leave and have been actively looking for employment since.

I've had a lot of interviews and have was rejected by three which was very disheartening but since things have improved. I've been offered a 12 month contract with a very prominant company and the people I will be working for seem really lovely which is important to me as this was an issue in my last job. The only issue is that it is only a contract and I was planning to buy a house in the new year. Also it is a 5k drop in salary which would be a lot for me. They want an answer by close of business today.

I have also had a 2nd interview with another good company last Thursday. They have said they would get back to me today with an answer. The interview seemed to go well but they didn't give much away. Also I have no idea of salary etc. I emailed them yesterday asking for an update and the HR lady said that as far as she was aware the decision would be made today. I still haven't heard anything back!

So my predicament is do I take the contract today or risk losing it or p!ssing them off to see if the 2nd company offer something better? I've a feeling if I haven't heard by now they probably have offered it to someone else but I could be just over thinking it as I'm really anxious to get back to work! Any advice welcome :)

Seems to be a no-brainer - take the job you've been offered! A bird in the hand, etc... If the other company does offer you a position, you can decide when you know the salary, etc., and get back to the first company to say thanks but no thanks, if the second one is better.
