October Holiday - Advice needed

    Hi All,

Looking for some tips on a holiday in October this year.

It's myself, my wife, 2 year old daughter and (what will be) 5 month old baby.

We're getting the house painted from top to bottom along with some other renovation works so need to get the kids out of the house for a week so it's a holiday of convenience as well as want!

Trying to decide between Ireland and abroad.

In Ireland, self-catering is a must as I need a fully functioning kitchen so a hotel with self-catering accommodation would be ideal. My main reservation with staying in Ireland is, as usual, the weather.

For abroad, my main want is to keep the flight to no more than 2&1/2 - 3 hours, but still go to a sunny beach resort. Anymore than that length of travel time with my 2-year old on a flight and I reckon I'll want to throw myself off the plane!! So that rules out the guaranteed sun in the likes of the Canaries.

Any suggestions or advice? Ireland vs abroad?

    Thanks

Try looking at airb&b or renting out an apartment instead of hotels as that might work out better and cheaper.

What part of the country are you in?

Northern France is nice, good food, good wine, bonus is that you could take the ferry so you're not having to deal with a small child in a cramped space and you have the car for getting around once you're there without having to rent. Weather wise it's not going to be that much different than Ireland.
