    Hi all

I am wondering if anyone has any experience working in the design of data centers? I have an Electronic Eng degree and I was wondering would these skills transfer over to such a role. What are the basic skills required to this job?

    Thanks

My degree is electrical / electronic engineering, and I have designed the elec and controls installations for data centres. It is possible to do, however having a building services background is far more pertinent - I had to learn most of that on-the-job...
I would guess that electronic experience would mainly be useful at controls end. And possibly in the pwoer budgeting end, when estimating loads, modes etc.

    Thanks Dardania.

I have an interview for a company for this role, got it through a friend who works there more so than applying by myself. He's in the mechanical design department so doesn't have too much understanding on what the job entails. Can you think of any areas of electronics I should brush up on before the interview that the employer would deem useful skills? Specifically what areas of the control end should I focus on?

Also if I was to give myself a crash course in the engineering in data center design is there any topics wortg getting myself familiar with beforehand?

    Thanks again

Yes, getting to spell centre (instead of center)!
Data centre in Ireland & Britain, center in the US.

    Hope this helps.
