Could be your caliper piston sticking which would wear them alot faster, happened on my passat, seals of the piston broke down as it was letting in dirt etc. You can get rebuild kits or just get a new caliper

    6 mths , how many miles ?
Car is quite new for this to be happening - do you fit them yourself ?
Do the pistons go back easily for example ; are any sliding mechanisms working freely ; are pads a good fit in the caliper - not too tight etc.
I often find that the metal backing part of pads need to be filed a bit to ensure they are a sliding fit in the caliper for example.
And what make of pads are used ?

Wearing on one side would indicate the sliders are stuck as apposed to the piston. On a car that young it would be unusual alright but not impossible.

Have seen the uneven wear caused by sticking piston or sticking slider(s).
I presume the OP is referring to front brakes .

If its the rears then you have the added possibility of the handbrake not fully releasing.
Does yours have the electronic handbrake ?
I deal with older cars and they have a lot of problems with the rear brakes and can be a right pain sometimes to get sorted - but your car is only 3 yrs old .
However there can be a lot of corrosion causing pads to stick in the caliper - and getting everything working as it should can be time consuming
Can't comment on Toyota pads - but you would expect them to be of good quality and a good fit in the caliper etc

You've the right idea there. Change to aftermarket pads.

You could normally expect the pad in direct contact with the piston to wear a little bit quicker, but 50% is far too much, unless the pads are made from compressed feathers.

It will be worth greasing the slide pins, but ensure copper grease isn't used on the slide pins.

Yes he did mention a lot of people dont eant to do the dirty work with the corrosion too time consuming
I have noticed in the last hour I'm driving there is a squeaky noise is this just them bedding in does this take long

How long they take to bed in depends a lot on the condition of the discs.
If discs and pads are both renewed its advised that pads will take about 100 mls to bed in - no harsh braking etc.
If discs are worn , ridged , have a wear lip on the outside etc the pads can take quite a while to bed in .
