Hi looking for a bit if advice , a while back my car had a loose bolt on diesel pump and car spilled oil and diesel onto the drive ,. When it happened I tried sawdust to soak it , no joy . Coca cola and power washer , no joy .
I think it's starting to corrode the tar a bit now and I'm desperate to sort it it looks terrible and still is set to the touch ,. I will attach pics .
Was wondering does anyone have any ideas how to fix this .
I've been considering painting the drive with bitumen paint so it matches the spill or would it be possible to get this patch repaired with new tar or do u think it's too bad to remove

    Any ideas much appreciated

You need something to dissolve the oil and then wash it away.

I'd be thinking maybe the stuff you get for cleaning engines ??

Now, I don't know if that would also damage the Tarmac

The only way you can now fix that spot is to cut it out and relay fresh tarmac.
You can buy cold set tarmac but a proper hot set would be better.
The oil and diesel will be eating down through the tarmac anything you add to try and wash off the diesel will do more damage to the tarmac as its all oil based.

When I spill diesel the odd time when fueling a boat washing up liquid breaks it up. Sounds like you spill has worked its way into the tarmac, though.

Whoa there. I wouldn't go cutting anything up. See my thread for last year ( http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=99374828 ). Scrubbed well with detergent powder like aerial worked a charm in the end. I had a bad oil stain similar to yours a few months later and same trick worked well.

    1. Sprinkle detergent like aerial etc and add a little bit of water and leave for a day.
    2. Repeat step 1 two or three times over a few days. This breaks it up and softens whats left.
    3. Spread a lot of detergent, a bit of water and scrub like f**k with a yard brush. Do this a few times and rinse with water.

'Most' of the stain will be gone. Repeat step 1 every now and again over the next month and it should be gone. I had to powerhose the oil stain but same principle worked. Bit of work but won't look as bad as a patch.
