Finishing up a job on August 18. Ive a week of a holiday (dont have enough leave left to cover it) and then i start a new job on August 29. New employer wont facilitate official starting during holiday week.

Is there eligibility to claim dole for the gap week? Thanks in advance.

Should be able to get JSB, JSA would be trickier. Depends which you'd be applying for.

It could take a couple of weeks for the claim and paperwork to go through for essentially one week of payment

    hi op

if you are leaving your employment voluntarily then you will probably not be eligible. there is a period where you are usually not eligible for 9 weeks.
If you leave work voluntarily or as a result of misconduct, you cannot get a jobseeker’s payment for 9 weeks. However, if you have ‘good cause’ to leave voluntarily, for example, any changes in working conditions such as a reduction in pay, harassment or abuse from your employer, you may get your payment. The Deciding Officer in your local Intreo Centre or Social Welfare Branch Office will decide whether you had good cause to leave voluntarily.

You aren't a jobseeker so you wouldn't be entitled to either JSB or JSA.
You could ask the community welfare officer for some help but it would usually take more than a week to set up payment AFAIK.
