I started playing golf at the start of this year and was looking at joining a society, obviously I'm only a beginner so I'm not very good, would I be an inconvenience to the group I play with? And would everyone be annoyed with me playing slow or 4 putting?
Have always loved the game and have great intrest
played plenty of pitch and putt so I can hit my irons straightish, just not great with the big boys
Any input is much appreciated, Thanks

Blast away. There's only one way to get better and that's to play. Probably get a few lessons too, just to make sure you know what you're doing

I joined a society shortly after I started. Chances are you won't be alone

Everybody started somewhere. They will more likely be more annoyed in a few years when you are beating them all!

Check with a few pubs in your area, alot of them will have one. Not too expensive either. My local (the villager) in chapelizod was €50 for the year and then about €40 a round which included a dinner after and had about 9 outings a year

Play with the Boards Society we are always looking for new members and every level is welcomed

Play away, most of the outing comps will be stableford. If you are having a particularly bad hole and can't make any points just lift your ball. If you have hit a 7 or 8 shots and you still aren't in the hole just lift your ball.

Personally i have no problem playing with high handicappers, my main gripe is players with excessive pre-shot routines. People taking 3 or 4 practice swings then standing over the ball for an eternity before they hit it.

Im in a society in Rathcoole which has a few golfers in the same boat as you and they are always looking for new members. Our next outing is on this Saturday at 10am in Moyvalley. €30 membership and this saturdays outing is €35 including dinner. Ill send you on a link if you're interested.

    Hello,

I am in the same boat as Howyabud23.

I did a set of ladies group lessons in Leopardstown and then another set up in Stackstown. I just bought a set of clubs last week and now want to get cracking.

Are there any societies for ladies in the South Dub area? Maybe some with younger members?

    All advice welcome!

Few ladies on the boards outings.
I think Leopardstown have a ladies society run out on their course..... Or maybe Stepaside?

Not sure, don't think they have a members club. Give them a buzz sure and ask
