Anyone know what is the solvent used when replacing a golf grip, and where to get it?

I used to use white spirits, done the trick but had to wear latex gloves and stinked the place out of it.

But seen a pro use wd40, that's all I use now. You can buy it in a spray can for €2 in deals.

    Much better cleaner job.

I used the White spirits with double sided tape.... Let's just say the glue just pooled at the end of the grip once it was on. Now, shaft, grips and head all sticky! Ah well lol

I've replaced dozens of grips and never used solvents. A layer or two of plain masking tape to your liking and slide the grip on with an air compressor. Job done and never had a grip move or slip.

Yeah, most adhesives are destroyed by oil. An other interesting adhesive solvent is the oil from an orange peel. If you've ever peeled an orange with a band aid on your finger you'll know what I mean. :)

Just replaced 9 grips . No bother. I had tried with varying results before but watched YouTube videos. A rubber clamp is the most essential thing you'll need. After that white spirits into grip swirl around and pour onto tape on club. Just slips on.

Yeah that's what I did alright, it's just the White spirit seemed to take the glue off the tape?
