    Hello Everyone!

Could anyone let me know please, how one can reach to Ballina (office) from Claremorris (home) by 9:00 AM? We don't have the car at the moment.
    Thank you.

Taxi is about your only option I would think.

    TT

It appears not to be possible via public transport.

Put your exact locations (home and work) and relevant dates and times into www.a-b.ie and tweak the settings. Make sure you have selected "take neighbouring stops into account for origin and destination maximum 20 min walk".

Does anyone at work live in Claremorris.

Does anyone in Claremorris travel to Ballina?

    Thank you! :)

We are Indians and very much happy to move to Ireland, our dream land!

I've got an offer in Tuam and my husband has got the offer in Ballina. We searched a lot and decided to live in Claremorris.

Claremorris to Tuam - It is easy to reach office timely.8-)
Claremorris to Ballina - We are puzzled.:ermm:

You will need to rethink that. Claremorris is a small town with no nearby city and commuting to other towns is very car dependent. Even Ballina and Tuam are only medium-sized towns, but they are 80km apart. Expect there to be 10-20 days per year of stormy / very wet weather where even driving will be difficult.

For a situation where people are working in two different towns, it is usually best to live in or quite near one of those towns. While the commuting is a burden on one person, perhaps they can be responsible for more household tasks.

Thank you very much for the explanation! Highly appreciated.
What place do you suggest then other than Claremorris? We would prefer to live in a place with good connectivity and from where we can commute easily to our offices in Tuam and Ballina.

The previous poster was suggesting that you choose either Ballina or Tuam to live in. Given the fact that there's only 1 car, I would strongly agree.

Even for locals Claremorris to Ballina would be considered a difficult journey because theres no direct route, and the whatever way you go, you would be travelling on some of the worst roads in the country.

Call into Midwestradio and have them call it out online that you are looking for a lift. Someone going that way may be glad of the company and cost savings that would come from splitting the journey

I would also strongly agree, have only one person commuting, live in either ballina or Tuam. The transport services between both towns is fairly ok

Theres a bus service from Ballina to galway passing through Tuam daily.
    Route 52

Living in ballina may be an option? Accommodation is very cheap there.
Using this service, you would leave ballina at 7:15 and arrive in tuam for work at 8:40. I cant find any other realistic public transport option.
Other than this, you would probably need to drive.
    Best of luck!:)

If they decide to live in Ballina, I think the one working in Tuam would get the car.

How's Ballina to live? Is it a nice place? I would love to live in a beautiful calm place with good connectivity and environment.

yes ballina is a nice town, friendly people, lots of lovely scenery near by with good parks and walks and local amenities. it has a cinema and arts center and lost of sports clubs.

its a nice place to raise a family.
it has a bus station and a train station so it has good connectivity but it is a small Irish town in the rural west of ireland so in some ways it is remote.

if you are interested in playing squash let me know and ill get you involved!!!

Ballina is built around a river and there's Belleek Woods close to the town (1.4km from the centre of the town. There's a large number of sports clubs.

Within a 15 to 20 minute drive there is two beaches (Enniscrone and Ross), a small mountain range (the Ox Mountans), and a number of lakes. Within around 40 to 50 minute drive, there's breathtaking Atlantic cliffs at Downpatrick Head and Ce Fields, and there's Ballycroy National Park.

Given the size of the town, it has reasonably good public transport links to other parts of the country (especially Dublin), but, like most places in Ireland, it is fairly car dependent to travel in comfort to nearby towns and areas outside the town.
