Job advice please

Hi everyone. Hoping someone can give me some advice please in what I should do next

I recently started a new job, just 2 weeks ago.
I was delighted to get into the workforce again. I am a young mum of 2 small children and I wanted to help and share costs with my husband, who works full time.
    I left the job yesterday.
It was working for a company, in their office and I was left there on my own , part time. 2/3 days a week.
I didn't mind that, but the company is a manufacturing plant and they had even let go the guys working in the warehouse last week.
I didn't know this was about to happen, when I got the job and this seems to be the normal thing every few weeks or months, that they are laid off temporarily. So I'm not sure how it will go.

The managing director (boss)of the company lives abroad and generally only comes over every 2 months. Other than that there is no other manager or staff member there.
He arrived over the weekend and I met him yesterday.
What made me leave was he asked me to go out and remove at least 80-100 people, who had camped out illegally all around the work area. They had 40-50 vechicles.
They were not there, when i left the office Friday evening. I told him this and he was annoyed that I hadn't checked over the weekend, even though he had been over here then and was down at the office himself. I don't work the weekends.
He asked me to remove every one of them yesterday morning.
I said I didn't expect they would leave for me and
I also said the best thing to do, would be to contact the Gardai.
He said "no I had to go out ,as if anything happened any of them" it would affected his insurance if they claimed. (Already a ongoing claim in from previous employee)
He kept getting more annoyed and said as soon as I had removed them all , to go up town and buy paddlocks for gates around the office.
He then left me and again stated they must be gone when he got back shortly. He was going for breakfast at the hotel he was staying in.
I didn't feel very at ease with this. I had parked my car outside and went outside to bring in my lunch and jacket. When I was outside I got shouted at by some of the people staying around there.
I was told to F off and what was I staring at and some nasty theathing words were said to me. I immediately went into the office, Got my personal items, shut down the computer, locked up the office and put my keys in the letterbox and drove off.

I felt frightened as I'm a young woman and no one else is near this building ( no other staff members either )
I just felt it wasn't safe and to expect me to try and remove people. It wasn't in my job description and considering the amount of abusive language they hurled at me just when I went to my car.

I now don't know what to do. Having recently signed off the dole. I just feel I've let myself and my family down. They have all been very supportive and were shocked and angered that any man would leave me to do this and that I was right to leave. They said anything could have happened and he didn't care when he went off and left me. That it was his responsibility and property and he had know they had arrived there over the weekend.
I dont know what I should do now.
There is no one now in the office and he ( the boss) is off home abroad again , in a few days. He will be all over Ireland for the next few days.

I have a typed letter ,that the staff from the warehouse had ,when they were let go last week just staring their name , pps number and that they were temporarily let go from work.
They have to sign on again.

    What should I do.
Please if you have any suggestions.
    Thanks.

What is your question? If you're not going back, sign on until you hopefully find more work. Fire an email off to the boss outlining some of the above.

No I wasn't threatened by staff as no one only myself now left there.
Just the people who camped out along the work place car park and grounds. They shouted at me when I went out to my car.

What would be my best option now as I was the only staff member there and have no P45 and no one will be in the office , I would say for he foreseeable future.
I don't know what the social will say considering I left the job and only signed off and informed them I had got a job, 2 weeks ago. I had been on Jobseekers Benifit for 9 months and was in the process of waiting to see an Inspector, to be means tested for Jobseekers Allowance

What a horrible situation to find yourself in, dodged a bullet I think, sounds like a dreadful place to work. You haven't let your family down, it sounds like an unsafe place to work and was probably best to leave the job. What an incredibly ignorant boss he is and spineless, was getting you to do his dirty work. Move on, dust yourself off, get cracking with the cv again and best of luck.

    Thank you.
I just don't know what I should do now. I am looking for jobs but have no P45 and no other staff is in the building.
I don't known what the social welfare would say.
I don't think i need put this job on my CV.

I've always found citizens information very helpful, so maybe call into your local office to see what your options are regarding your p45. Social welfare may actually be accommodating under your circumstances. It might be best not to mention this on your updated cv, but do get more advice

Yes I will call Citizens advice.
    Thanks.

call the old boss and ask him for it, highlight why you decided to leave -say that you were bullied, however, if you get p45 in timely fashion, you will not be following it up. Otherwise I think there is a round-about way in getting it online thru revenue website.

Camped out? As in previous staff or tinkers? Also, if no one in office but you then who pays wages etc?

Yes they were members of the travelling community, that where camped there.
    No one now in office.
I had just got one weeks pay and had paid the wages of the guys in the warehouse last Friday. That was their last weeks pay, as now laid off for he moment.

Bullying by definition here is repeated requests to do something impossible, in this case your were asked to remove an illegal traveller encampment. Hardly the duties of an office administrator...you're probably into the realms of constructive dismissal. Doesn't sound like he provided a safe place of work. HSA might be interested.
Is it compensation you want or just move on? he sounds like a right bo11ox though, you're we'll off out there. Move on.

I'd contact local Revenue office if he wont forward your P45, they might even take a "look" into why he wont...Give him a chance though.

You certainly haven't let yourself or your family down.
If anything, you've taken a very brave step and asserted yourself, and used cop on to ensure your safety.
You should be proud of yourself. You did nothing you should be ashamed of.
Go back and sign on, and hopefully something will turn up.

Thank you for you advice and kind words.
I had not worked for about 15 months and I suppose I was delighted to be back in the workforce again.
As you said this was not in my job description to try and get people to leave.
My family are not disappointed in me.
They like you, said I made the right decision to leave and glad I was able to stand up for myself. They were afraid for my safety and welfare and found it horrifying that he had known they were there all weekend and left it for me to try and remove yesterday.
No job in my opinion, is worth that.
I just worry what the social welfare will say.
Should I just explain the story ,.. I don't know as I walked away from job , do I have to wait a certain number of weeks, before they can put me on Jobseekers Allowance.

Tell social welfare you left as it was not a safe place to work, you were subject to intimidation, threats and you were working alone with no support in the event of an escalation.

Write a resignation letter to your last boss, expressing your disappointment it didn't work out, also asking for your p45 and bring a copy of it. All perfectly legit and above board. They're not slavers in Welfare!

You dont need a P45 anymore.

Tell revenue that you have ceased work with this person, they will be able to see this from your tax

For social welfare, you need to explain the situation to them in regards no P45. they will be able to verify with tax that you are no longer being paid.

get on to the HSA and the Employment Rights people about this guy, asking you to remove 80+ members of the travelling community is not your job, it is down to the owner to provide a secure place where you work, but also to provide some place where people are not able to access to camp.

You sound lucky to have noticed this before you got too involved with the company,

    Dont think you can .

"Family Income Supplement (FIS) is a weekly tax-free payment available to employees with children. It gives extra financial support to people on low pay. You cannot qualify for FIS if you are only self-employed - you must be an employee to qualify."
