Eir we go again.....

Android phone. Vodafone package. Eir webmail. Suddenly, after months of trouble-free incoming emails, they stop incoming. A week of online 'chats' with Vodafone and Eir has achieved nothing. The repeated advice was 'have you checked your incoming server settings?' Eventually I was given the number of Eir Tech Support. 'Have you checked your incoming blah blah' etc.
Here's the thing....it fixes itself for an hour, sometimes a day or two, then it all starts again....no incoming emails.
The mails are reaching my laptop and my tablet, and also appearing in my Eir webmail folder. So why aren't they reaching my phone?
It appears that neither Eir nor Vodafone know the answer.
Eir advised me today to uninstall the email app. I told them it was built-in,
then they suggested I clear the data. That didn't work, and now I can't restore my settings as my incoming settings 'cannot connect to server'.
    Someone, somewhere.... HELP!!!!

Did you try setting up the email account on something other than the default email app, such as Gmail or Outlook? Best advice I can give is to sort yourself out with an email account from one of these providers since they are way more reliable. Email from Eir is a nice to have feature, whereas email with Microsoft and Google is part of their core business, as you seem to be finding out.

I do have a Gmail account and address, I guess I might have to switch to that, then begin the tedious task of informing all contacts etc of my new address. Thanks for the idea!

See if you can forward your eir mails automatically to your Gmail in the interim (have a look at the webmail options on the eir side). That should ease the transition.

Seems a bit much. If everything else works then something has changed in your phone. Is your tablet android?

Try outlook or type mail apps.

To be honest I would move to Gmail, Outlook.com etc regardless of whether it can be resolved or not.

I imagine it is only a matter of time before Eir call time on the mail service. Certainly they appear to have very little interest in troubleshooting or supporting it if it stops working.

Done today. I already had a hardly-used Gmail account and address, The tekkie in the Vodafone shop linked my eir address, now all my mails come flying in, Eir or Gmail and I can send from my Gmail in reply. Thanks to all who took the trouble to advise, much appreciated!
