Hello All looking for bit of help.... Just replaced rear brake caliper on 2010 Avensis now getting EPB (electric parking brake) errors.... Error code P3653 "Refer to vehicle service manual".... when I put on handbrake get message on clock telling me to release handbrake, after handbrake released will not work again unless ignition switched off... will work again when ignition turned on with same situation... Looking at Toyota-Tec Eu's website can see no codes starting "P" under EPB (all EPB error codes seem to start with "C")..... any ideas?.....

Possibly needs to be programmed to show new brake piston position?

You need to hold the handbrake button with the ignition on for 5 seconds to reset it. Not sure if you push or pull the switch for 5 seconds.

    Try pulling instead?

    Ignition on, engine off.

    Or else I'm doting,

Im convinced it needs to be reset via a scanner of toyota diagnostic tool. Electric handbrakes work to fine tolerances and throw on the light if the system reads any discrepancies.

Yes Autochange might be beyond me but if could identify error code P3653 might help... & colm Toyota say to cancel full release mode "A" Turn ignition ON "B" Press & hold the EPB for five seconds to cancel full release mode... will search more tomorrow...

Have you tried to erase the code then try operate the handbrake with just the ignition on? may be an unrelated code
