Is the area safe to jog around at, say, midnight tonight?

I'd be driving and park about a mile away so I can jog back.

Is there anything I should watch out for?

    From the webs....
Current urban lore tells us that it was, and still is, a site commonly used for the practice of Satanism and other occult activities, and that the Devil himself made brief appearances at some unspecified times in the past.

    Go carefully.

I'm talking about personal safety, who could be hanging around the general area?

Unlikely to be anybody up there although we used to camp and drink up there as kids. Wouldn't it be very dark up there at night to go running though?

I'm not sure if that information is published anywhere, but while remote it is not that far from Tallaght ;)

Why wouldn't it be likely that any suspicious person would be around there?

Quite normal to have teenagers drinking cans up there. At the Hellfire club itself and at the back of the forest. Not sure if they'd give a runner any trouble. Could wear all black so they don't see you :)

I used to go late night running around Ticknock/Tibradden and that area was always deserted of people so might be a better option.

Unlikely but not impossible. It's a few miles from Tallaght and Rathfarnham. We used to go up there a lot as kids, just messing, drinking cans or camping. We never got into any bother there, or gave any.

It'll be very dark and uneven around there though. I could think of better places for night running.

why would you go somewhere dark and secluded to run at night on uneven surfaces. Forget personal safety from other people you could take a nasty fall.

no idea why you wouldn't just run in a well lit area
