Hi all. I have just recently taken up employment in the Public Service in Dublin, however am resident in the North. I am interested to know if any of the banks in the South would offer mortgages for a house purchase in Northern Ireland, for someone in my position?

The rationale being that the total mortgage amount required for a new 3 bed semi-detached in the North (circa £130,000) would be significantly less than a loan request for a comparable new build property in the South. Current salary circa €47k, with €12k deposit.

    Thanks
