    Hi All

Will be renting a car in France later this year for a family holiday, we have 2 kids so need to rent an infant seat (under 13 kg) and a child seat (under 25 kg). The question I have is in relation to the child seat, does anyone know if these are rear facing or front facing. Our two year old is used to front facing seats here at home so will be a factor in our decision to bring his own seat or rent one.

    Thanks in advance...

Just bring your own seats. Free with Ryanair or air lingus.

Agree. I have rented a car with child seat in the US, Iceland and France.. the quality of car seat with Hertz in France was very poor, obviously this is only based on one experience but..

How could anyone here possibly know if the seats are rear facing or forward facing?

You haven't even mentioned which company you're renting with?

Do you know what would be best instead of asking board.ie? ... Actually asking the Rental company!

Lighten up. Tried ringing rental company before and got referred to the rental office at airport who couldn't understand my French and vice Versa.

Buy one of those big bags that can carry car seats to bring your own and you'll be fine.

I'm lightened up, I just don't understand how people genuinely expect an answer to these type of questions.

I'm renting a Mustang in the states next month.

Does anyone here know what colour it will be?

I suggest you mail the companies, asking in English and French. Maybe google translate can be of use.

TBF... things like car seats are generally much the same from company to company in each country as that country will have specific guidelines.

In my experience the companies will have a room full of seats ranging from group 0/1 up to booster seats and generally let you go in and pick out whichever you want (forward facing or rear facing).

As I mentioned before, the selection that Hertz had in CDG was poor and I presume this is down to France not having strict guidelines etc..

    see this post:

for the price they charge for child seat rentals this probably cheaper option and useful as everyday/spare booster.
