I've been asked to check the quote below to see what other plumbers might say. The entire house is being replumbed along with a few other changes. Would people be able to give feeback on the estimate below? How could money be saved here, or is there anything which should be in it that isn't? Thanks a million.

Sounds like the plumber knows what he's doing. Are you looking for a cheaper price?

Not necessarily. But as I don't know anything about the profession and its costs I thought it would be prudent to see if people who do know could give me feedback on it as it's a significant expense. He said there is a Hot/Cold option (or something similarly named?) which costs about €10k extra and it's brilliant but that isn't in the budget so aside from that is there anything else which would be advised?

For instance, is it worth paying a bit extra for vertical radiators rather than the horizontal ones priced? Is it worth installing underfloor heating given our climate? While getting it solar ready for the future seems wise, is it worth paying €3k to make it solar now?

3k seems pricey just to first fix for solar.
Vertical rads are an eyesore in my opinion. It you like them then go for them. I wouldn't bother with underfloor heating. Get a weather compensation unit with your new boiler. This varies the radiator temps. The colder it is outside, the hotter the rads get. And vice Versa if it's hot outside.

The €3,500 quoted is for the full install of the solar system.
The first fix is included in the first quotation.

Solar is a wast of money if you are looking for a return on your investment.
Lets say that you went ahead with the above, €4,000 all in for first and second fix.
If the solar saved you at a generous figure, €200 a year. 4000/200 = 20 years.
Factor in a service for 150 every 3 years and this pushes it out even longer.

Rads are an eye sore if they are vertical or horizontal. I would have underfloor heating installed in a heart beat. Superior thermal comfort compared to radiators.
The joys of the internet, you will receive everyones opinion, only you can decide what suits you and your budget.

"Replumbing" can mean anything from replacing a few bathroom fittings to everything in the the house.
Is there a new boiler, rads, hot water cylinder, cold water tank etc?

I’d recommend PV solar with a diverter to heat your hot water , why more beneficial than thermal solar and zero maintenance costs

Seems to be becoming very popular. Any rough estimate of the installation costs Ted?

Electric Ireland quote 4,500 for a decent size system , with interest free repayments

You may get cheaper from there or elsewhere by haggling
