    Hi all,
New to the forum here, just wanted to see if anyone can shed light on the prices of Ryanair tickets from Faro to Ireland (any airport), they are massively expensive in the first week in October, while flights to the UK on the same dates are still lowish, is there some sort of event on in dublin that week that tickets have rocketed in price? One week later on the same route is 3-4 times cheaper

Different dates for term holidays between the two countries is the usual explanation here

The first week in October is when the reduced winter checked baggage fees come in, some people will head off then for a cheap winter break, as far as I know golf clubs are also cheaper to carry then, can lead to a spike in the first week to Faro and Malaga. I think Ryanair put week 1 in October at a premium initially and will then reduce if the planes don't fill. Best thing to do is keep an eye on it over the next month and see if there's any drops and then make a move if you need to go then.

That might explain going to Portugal but the high prices are those from Faro to Dublin, the flights to Faro arent that expensive still

Does that really explain the discrepancy between uk and irl that the op mentions?

Maybe it's the new electric charges which you are doing a lot of posting about?

I just think it's that there is no competition from Ireland to most routes in Europe with just 2 scheduled airlines. My family and I have holidayed in Lanzaorte for the last 2 years and both years we have flown through the UK. In 2016 at the time of booking it was €2500 cheaper via the UK and this year it was €1200. Flights to Lanzaorte were in around £35 one way in the U.K where here they were between €130 and €160. Makes a difference when 5 are travelling.

Any actual knowledge of the subject is not a prerequisite for Atlantic Dawn offering an opinion.
