I thought I might go for a day trip, where on the Cork to Dublin line would be the best place to head for, bearing in mind I'd like to see some freight if possible and take some photos.

I was thinking Kildare or Newbridge, what do you think?

Suggested time of day would be great too

Kildare would be the best, at least on days when Waterford / Mayo timber / container trains operate, as they run around at Kildare, sometimes spending hours there.

Between around 12.40 and 14.20 will be best Monday to Friday you will see the IWT Liner to Ballina pass at around 12.50 and the loco run round on a timber or DFDS which arrives in Kildare t around 13.35 and departs at around 14.15.

A second freight loco run round takes place between 15.30 and 16.00.
