Yeah no probem....just basic workflow in fairness. Converted to B&W in photoshop cs6, basic levels and curves adjust to add bit more contrast. Then I used the dodge and burn tool to create a bit more contrast in certain areas (side of the mountain to enhance difference between light areas and cloud shadow).

For the clouds I think all I did there was create a luminosity mask and change the blend mode to multiply, reduce opacity and use layer mask to not overdue it. Little bit of sharpening then using smart sharpen to finish it off.

I literally just finished reading Jimmy's guide to luminosity masks and then saw this. :D

Wailin can you do the same in LightRoom or do you need Photoshop for those adjustments ?

Hi Pero. All the basic stuff such as levels, curve adjust, sharpening, conversion to B&W, colour tone etc can be done in lightroom...its excellent. Photoshop just has that little bit more, well a lot more really, I feel.

Things like luminosity masks, layer masks, controlled selection and lots of others are really usefull in Photoshop. I have both photoshop cs6 and lightroom 5 (came with a camera I bought). I rarely use lightroom....or when i do i just do the initial basic stuff first then export it to PS to finish. But someone else will come along and swear by lightroom. It's personal preference, as is always the case. I just have a routine that I'm happy enough with. Luminosity masks are new to me and a bit tricky at first though.
