How long to receive Vehicle Cert after VRT clearance?

I just cleared vrt for a car. They said I could go online and tax it but I have not bothered yet. VRT cleared 8 days ago - but still no sign of the Vehicle Registration Cert. How long does it take for the Cert to arrive in the post?

    2nd Question

If I got a car cleared through VRT - then suddenly decided to sell it on, can that be done without waiting on the Vehicle Registration Cert. to arrive in the post? (not what's happening here but just curious).

As far as I know you need to first tax it in order for the vehicle cert to be sent.

You could sell it on but only a fool would buy it without the VRC and any crimes/fines committed in the meantime would all be registered to you so you would be exposed to all sorts.

Yeah, I wondered about that. Have just paid it there now.

You need to tax it online using the last 6 digits of the VIN number as the pin.

Only then will the VRC be sent to the registered address.

    As above.
You will get in in about 5-7 days after taxing it.
Make sure its correct when you receive it!

    Doesn't have to be online.
Can be done in motortax office as well..

But anyway must be taxed in order to receive VRC.

OP could wait could years, and it still wouldn't arrive if car is not taxed.

you have no idea the number of people who do this and then get caught for arrears!
