Yes lads. Im looking for some advice.ive got an 05 almera thats engine light came on a while back.
Took it to mechanic and he said its the timing belt and it needs changed. I agiukd also mention that it goes through quite a lot of engine oil amd i have to top it up about every week or so.
I threw her through the test this evening and it only failed on emissions.

    High idle (2,760 rpm)

    Lambda: 1.00
    CO 0.31 vol %
    HC 88 ppm.

Needless to say these numbers are meaningless to my non-mechanical brain.
    My questions are
    1. Are the emissions very high or just minor?
    2. Any idea what could be causing the problem and what may rectify the issue?

Id really hate to scrap her as I only got it last year and apart from this issue it is a nice car that I have spent a bit on and made an effoet to keep maintaned.

    Any info is appreciated!

I think above 0.2% is a fail so it's over 50% above permitted pass mark.

How much oil is it going through a week? Any evidence of oil leaking underneath the car or is it being burned off? Can you notice a blueish tint in the exhaust fumes?

    0.3% is 50% more than 0.2%!?🀔
    Its definitely burning the oil.
I can also smell exhaust fumes coming through the air vents.

Not looking good, any idea of when the oil was last changed or car serviced?
