Bank of Ireland ATM retained cash

    I attempted to lodge cash to my Bank of Ireland account in ATM this evening. I inserted the cash as instructed and the machine counted it, then a message came on the screen which said "your cash has been retained, please contact a member of staff"

    Has this happened to anyone before and why would it happen??

    I cannot contact staff until 10 tomorrow morning, I have gotten through to call centre who can send an email but nothing else

    Any advice appreciated

    It probably means that one or more of the notes couldn't be verified or maybe one of them is a counterfeit. You'll have to contact the specific branch, there's no point phoning the call centre.
