Seems like a genuine mistake by the one of the stable staff. The price stayed at 50/1 so it would appear there was no 'gamble' to indicate someone was pulling a fast one. Most of the main bookies have announced they will settle the 2nd as the winner and PP gone a step further by voiding all bets on the other runners in the race. Interesting to see if the official result will be changed or what the repercussions will be.

Nice little sting if that's what it was, playing by the weighed in rule. But seemingly no irregular betting, went off 50's, doesn't look like anyone was in the know.

You'd wonder, did the groom not recognise the horse? Has the jockey ridden it before?

Is this the first day they started scanning winners?

Feck all use to someone who lumped on a 1/2 shot on course and threw the docket away.

I looked at the race result and see that the winner at 50/1 was not the highest priced runner in the race.

That was Agent Of Fortune at 250/1, 6th in the 7 runner race.
Her trainer ran three runners at Yarmouth that day, and they finished 6/7 (250/1), 6/13 (50/1), 5/6 (66/1).
That trainer's return to a £1 level stake over the last five years was -£246, 23 wins from 467 runners.

What you folk think of the Killarney incident last Thursday? Was down there and had backed the winner. Was a while before i went to collect and was told there was a Stewards so left it for a while. Then heard race was voided so got my stake back. Heard a lot of people had already been paid. Now i see today the winner has been reinstated......some mess!

How was the "punter screwed again"?

Betfair: Paying out on the 50-1 shot and Fyre Cay and voiding all losers
BoyleSports: Paying out on the 50-1 shot and Fyre Cay
Coral: Paying out on the 50-1 shot and Fyre Cay
Ladbrokes: Paying out on the 50-1 shot and Fyre Cay
Paddy Power: Paying out on the 50-1 shot and Fyre Cay and voiding all losers
Sky Bet: Paying out on the 50-1 shot and Fyre Cay and the third as the placed horse
William Hill: Paying out on the result as 1. Fyre Cay, 2. Take Shelter
Bet Victor: Paying out on the 50-1 shot and Fyre Cay and promoted the third horse home to second for each-way purposes

I am a cynical old guy. My guess is nobody backed the 50/1 "winner".

I would not be surprised if one or two of the smaller outfits had a liability of zero on the winner.

Its obviously a genuine mistake but you'd have to wonder why the stewards didnt throw out the winner once they recieved the test results. I know they dont like to change results in the UK but thats pretty clear cut.
