1 Flock Number, 2 Businesses

    Hi,

Was looking for some advice regarding expanding out a little.

Myself and my father are sheep farming in a small way, I now want to go a bit bigger.

Currently everything is under his name, stock, land, leased land. We have NO entitlements. I have stock but it is kept under his name.

The plan ideally is to lease further land and go that way. However I imagine me getting a flock number might be a bit of hassle as I would be planning on using the same facilities for lambing etc.

Is it possible to run two businesses from the one flock number? Just keeping split records of accounts? Would I need to get added onto his flock number and keep things as they are but just split the expenses up in the correct way?

When I applied for a flock number I just sent off the form and a couple of weeks later a department official came out and I just showed him a field with a pen in the corner. A couple of weeks later, I got my number and sales book. I suggest you do the same!
